The 49th Annual Conference of the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA) will take place at Valley Lodge in Magaliesburg, South Africa and will be hosted by the Vaal Triangle Chapter.
The theme of this year's conference is Analytics for sustainability, and will provide delegates the opportunity to engage with academic presentations by experienced academics and industry leaders on, amongst other, the following topics:
The Conference will kick off with an optional tutorial on Sunday the 30th of August which will be followed by the welcome reception. The official program of the Conference will run from 08:00 on Monday the 31st of August to 14:00 on Wednesday the 2nd of September.
Prof Pieter Rousseau
Dr Rousseau holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Pretoria and is a graduate of the OPM executive education program at Harvard Business School. He is currently a full professor and Deputy Head of Department for research and post-graduate training in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, as well as Director of the Applied Thermofluid Process Modelling Research Unit (ATProM).
Dr Peter Vanberkel
Dr. Peter T. Vanberkel's primary research involves improving healthcare operations using stochastic operational research methods. He is an Associate Professor with the department of Industrial Engineering at Dalhousie University and a Staff Scientist at the IWK Health Centre. His PhD is from the University of Twente (The Netherlands) and he was the first graduate from the Center for Healthcare Operations Improvement and Research, the knowledge center for optimization of healthcare processes and research in The Netherlands.
